O'Dea Knocks Off Roosevelt 56-28

SEATTLE -- Defending state champs O'Dea fighting Irish started off the football season on Friday night with a 56-28 win over the Roosevelt roughriders. Jayshaun Wilson led the Irish with 264 yards 3 touchdowns and 9 carries in the dominant victory.

Nino Mokisvong started off the game on a high note with a Punt Return TD on Odea's first possession, giving the team a strong start.

Odea wide receiver Kaydon Tatum snagged a toe tap touchdown from quarterback Alias Moimoi to get the team fired up in the second half.

On the other side of the ball the state champs struggled trying to hold the roughriders down on offense giving up close to 500 passing yards. Much of this came from the Roosevelt wide receivers lining up in a different way than expected.

After the game Jaxon Foy said that "it surprised all of us and we had to find a way to adjust to it". Despite struggling the team's offense found a way to lead them to a comfortable victory.

After the game Odea defensive lineman Ali Mohamed said how the defense "wasn’t going to be perfect week 1 but the team is going to be working on improving it week after week to get it up to full strength".

Odea high school looks forward to their next game on Friday versus Ballard high school.
