In the heart of O'Dea High School, there exists a remarkable individual whose presence resonates with perseverance, care, and an unwavering commitment to supporting the mental health and well-being of students.

Mr. Michels, a man of many talents, serves as an advocate for the importance of mental health and a dependable rock upon which many students and colleagues lean. Mr. Michels always finds ways to be the best listener; in many cases some people just need someone to talk to and even in the O'Dea community that can be hard but not when you go to your counselor--they help you with your problems and help you break that fear of talking to your O'Dea brothers and that we are all there for each other. Mr. Michels is a reminder that people are there for you in the O'Dea community and character, faith, service comes in many different shapes and forms.

For the subsection of O'Dea students who have Mr. Michels as their counselor, he embodies the roles of support system, confidant, mentor, tutor, and friend. His dedication to addressing their academic, emotional, and personal needs is unwavering.
