In recent years, Mr. Alvarado has seen his mentor group become a close and respectful community. “In the two and a half years I’ve been part of MG 306—the best MG, by the way—I’ve seen some epic growth in camaraderie and relationships,” he said. What he notices most is how easily students support each other. “I’m impressed by how well they get along and how seriously they take our Circle discussions. The vulnerability they’ve shown this year is a true testament to how much they respect one another.”
Mentor group captain Nate Black sees that same spirit every day. When asked what makes this group special, Nate answered right away. “The Alvarado mentor group has a real sense of spirit, whether it’s in sports, competitions, or just showing up for each other,” he said. As captain, he works to support the group through leadership and teamwork. “We bring creative games and challenges that push everyone to grow. With the leadership we have, this mentor group is going to be a force in the coming years.”
For Senior Owen Foy, the best part is easy to name: the people. “I look forward to talking with my brothers,” he said. Being in this group has helped him feel more confident and outgoing, both inside and outside the classroom.
In MG 306, brotherhood is more than just a word. It’s something they practice every day.
