O’Dea Wins First Golf Match of the Season

SEATTLE - On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, O’Dea High School defeated Seattle Academy 138–133 in a golf match at West Seattle Golf Course.
O’Dea’s strong play gave the Fighting Irish the first win of their season, led by John Pokorny and Ben Smoltz, who both shot a 38 to help the team come ahead and take the season opener. Even though the match stayed close, O’Dea stayed consistent and beat the Cardinals.
The course was tough that day, with temporary greens and some areas that weren’t in good condition, which made putting and approach shots extra tricky for both teams. One of the key moments came on the 7th hole, when Pokorny made a birdie that gave O’Dea momentum to stay in front.
