SEATTLE: O’Dea came into the 2025 Metro League Boys Golf Championship ready for a challenge. They placed 6th with a team score of 320, edging out Lakeside and Ballard in a close contest. O’Dea’s strong performance helped them stand out and secure their place.
Senior golfer Ben Smoltz led the team with a 79, staying calm through every hole. Senior John Pokorny shot a 78, and senior Nathan Booth added an 82. Each of them made the shots they needed when it counted. The only underclassman on the team, sophomore Jackson Rosquita, came through with an 81 to help keep their score competitive.

“We played as a unit, and everyone brought their best today,” Smoltz said after the match.
Doing well at the tournament means a lot to the O’Dea golf team and the school community. For the seniors, it’s another strong finish in their last season. It’s also a reminder of how much they’ve improved over the years. They plan to keep this momentum going and get ready for district competitions.
The Metro Championship gave the team a chance to compete confidently, show how much they’ve prepared, and go up against some tough teams. They handled the pressure well and gained valuable experience for the future.
Now, they’re focused on finishing strong as the postseason continues. The team’s growth throughout the year has been clear, and their effort at the tournament shows they’re ready for what’s coming. With this performance in the books, O’Dea is looking toward district play and hoping to keep pushing forward.
