More Than a Game: How O’Dea Golf Shaped Senior Captain Brady Curran
SEATTLE- For O’Dea senior Brady Curran, golf has become more than just a sport. Throughout his time on the O’Dea golf team, Curran has grown as both a player and a person, learning valuable lessons that have helped him on and off the course.
As a captain, Curran has taken on a leadership role, helping younger players improve while setting an example for his teammates. Being part of the golf program has taught him the importance of resilience, discipline, and staying positive when things seem bleak.
"Golf has really taught me how to stay patient and not get frustrated when things aren't going my way," Curran said.
One of the biggest ways golf has impacted Curran is by helping him become a guy the team can lean on. As captain, he understands that his role isn't just about playing well but also about supporting his teammates and helping create a positive team environment.
"Being captain has helped me become a better leader and learn how to help others," Curran said.
Beyond improving his golf skills, Curran believes the lessons he has learned through the program will continue to benefit him off the course. Whether it's handling pressure, working collaboratively, or staying dialed in on his goals, golf has helped prepare him for challenges outside of sports.
"I think the lessons I've learned from golf, like being patient, staying focused, and working with others, will help me a lot in life, even when I'm not playing golf," Curran said.
As his senior year continues, Curran hopes to finish the golf season strong while leaving a positive impact on the younger players who will carry on the program. As Curran looks back, he is grateful for the experiences he has had.
"Golf at O’Dea has helped me grow a lot, and I'm thankful for the teammates and coaches I've had along the way," Curran said.
For Curran, the O’Dea golf program has been about much more than scores and tournaments. It has given him friendships, leadership experience, and lessons that he can carry with him long after his final round.
