SEATTLE- Irish golf team gets it done on the course with a 5th place team finish in the Metro championship tournament on Monday October 20th.

The team played some good golf, with John Pokorny, (26’), led the Irish with a round of 78. Ben Smoltz (26’) close behind him with a 79. Jackson Rosquita (28’), Nathan Booth (26’), and Greyson Deiner (26’) with rounds of 81, 82, and 91.

On the individual side, Christian Skally, 26’, came in with a round of 78 to punch his ticket to the district tournament alongside the team.

Roosevelt took the metro title with Seattle Academy and Seattle Prep just behind them with a second and third place finish.

Sophomore Jackson Rosquita “thought that he did very well and doesn’t really have regrets at all”. He thought that the team performed great and that it was awesome that the team was able to qualify for the district championships on Monday October 27th which the team wasn’t able to do last year.

With the district tournament on the horizon the team is looking to qualify for state and it would be a big accomplishment if they do so. It would be a great cap to an already good season in which they finished with a record of 6-4-1.

Rosquita says that “He is looking forward to playing at a nice course such as druids glen and what it is like to be in an environment like the district championships”. With him being a sophomore, he has two more years of high school left for him and so he wants to take the experience and use it to build on what he has done the last two years.

The team was excited to take 5th in the metro tournament, and they want to be able to take that momentum and use it in the district championships to have a chance at state.
