SEATTLE- As people glance through the golf lineup, they may see the names and scores, but they rarely see the stories behind them.

Junior Andrew Bosa has been a three-time varsity golf member at O’Dea, earning his spot through hard work, dedication, and a constant desire to improve. However, his love for the game started long before he made the team.

While his parents never played golf, Bosa found his inspiration through his uncle, growing up watching him play. Eventually this turned into him waking up early on many mornings to go golfing with him.

"My dad doesn't golf, I grew up playing with my uncle" Bosa explained.

Bosa spends much of his free time practicing golf, especially focusing on the little things that can make a difference in his game. He knows that improving takes effort, no matter how skilled a player already is.

Bosa wants to help underclassman just like how his uncle helped him. Bosa's advice to younger players was to focus on the little things and be consistent.

“You have to practice, no matter how good you are,” Bosa said.

Bosa’s dedication to improving his game comes from his own mindset. He understands that while coaches, teammates, and family can help him, he is ultimately responsible for how much he improves.

“I’m the only person that can make myself better,” Bosa said.

Mastering the game has been a huge thing for Bosa, knowing that golf is as much a mental game as it is physical. Keeping his mind focused while golfing has been another huge part of his game, helping him stay calm and focused even when things don’t go his way.

As the regular season comes to the end, Bosa hopes that his leadership and role will carry on into next season
