When asked what he’s most passionate about, Timothy Sousou doesn’t hesitate; it’s football. The physicality and intensity of the game push him to work harder every day. “When I step on the field, I just try to stay focused and give my all,” he said.

So far, this school year has been a smooth one for Sousou. The transition came with more rules and structure, but he’s handled it well. “It’s been going good,” he said. “Just getting used to everything, and there’s a lot more structure.”

One of his biggest goals right now is to keep his grades up and earn a scholarship. Originally from Samoa, English isn’t his first language, but that hasn’t stopped him from working hard in school. “Getting good grades is my main goal right now,” he said.

When asked who inspires him the most, Sousou points to someone he looks up to, Brayden Platt  a former linebacker at Yelm who now plays at Oregon. “He motivates me to push myself more,” Sousou said. He also gives credit to Coach P, the strength and conditioning coach at O’Dea High School, whose class has helped him stay focused and more comfortable at O’Dea.

Outside of football, Sousou likes spending time with his friends and taking a break from the grind. “I just like hanging out and relaxing,” he said. But even then, he’s thinking about how to improve as a student, a teammate, and a person.

With his goals set and his drive clear, Sousou continues to grow both on and off the field. His journey at O’Dea is only beginning, but his mindset shows he’s ready for whatever comes next.
