SEATTLE- With track season in full swing and graduation on the horizon Senior Maddox fox is looking to cap off what has been a good few years at O’Dea.
The season has been off to a good start with the team competing in a few invite events over the last couple of weeks and a lot of younger talents coming into the team to start the season. It has added a lot of depth to the team and improved on what was already a good group. They are looking forward to improving in the next few weeks with more invite events picking up week by week.
For fox himself, he has continued his big role in the track team, becoming the captain of the distance group.
He started off the year with a couple practice races and events but “I ended up getting sick for 3-4 days over break, “said Fox.
That has held him back a bit over the last couple of weeks but the main focus this year for him is making sure he has a good season and progresses.
Next year Fox is headed just up the hill from O’Dea to Seattle U. He is committed there to run cross country along with track.
With college coming up next year, he has been focusing on how his performance this season will affect his future. With some of his future teammates running at schools in the Seattle area he has set a goal of getting to know them along with competing with them.
Looking ahead Fox says, “I am most excited to be a part of a new community and have access to resources that I don’t have in high school.”
As He prepares for the jump to the college level, fox has been purposeful about how he approaches the final stretch of the season.“Before going into college, I hope to stay healthy and put as many miles in as possible so I can hit the ground running when I get to college,” said Fox.
With college comes new responsibilities and being able to hold up on your own. He says that he is curious about newfound independence and being more responsible. He has a good idea of how the training will be once he gets there but at that time, he will be on his own and the growth that comes with that is what he is excited for. He does not have too many goals for next year with the majority of them focused on contributing positively to his future team.
As the season continues, he is focused on supporting the team and setting himself up for success at the next level. Whatever comes next for Fox wont phase him one bit.
