I interviewed senior Noah Guayan. Noah is a senior at O’Dea High School. He runs XC and Track. He is also a star triathlete. Noah is a very good athlete but that’s not the only thing he’s good at. Noah is the House chaplain for the Dublin house. I asked Noah some questions about being the Dublin House chaplain.

I wasn’t sure what the house chaplain did. I asked Noah what his job as House chaplain exactly is and he said, “I help find service opportunities for Dublin house, I help lead encounter and other retreats. Another key job is helping at masses and setting mass up.”

Noah is very important to Dublin House and O’Dea because he always tries to help others and finds service opportunities. I asked Noah what inspired him to be a house chaplain. He said former O’Dea teacher Mr. Odem suggested it during XC practice to Noah when he was a sophomore. Noah also thought it would be cool to help find students service opportunities, so he decided to apply.

I asked Noah how being House chaplain has changed him as a person and he said, “It has made me more of an outgoing person. I serve my community more, but I also have meet a lot of guys in different grades as well.”

I asked him if he thinks being a house chaplain has made him a better leader and he explained to me he has because now he is able to lead retreats and feels more comfortable with public speaking in front of big groups. He also said he is now able to lead small groups and help advise people what they are doing on retreats.

I finally ended the interview with a big question: how has O’Dea changed him as a person. Noah responded, “It has also allowed me to make many connections in life both friendships but also meeting other people who've gone to O'Dea out in the work force.”

Noah is a great chaplain for Dublin House and great leader for O’Dea. I have gotten to know Noah over the past year and have had numerous conversations with him and I can definitely tell you he is an outstanding leader and is great at helping others.
