On Monday the 15th, our school gathered as one brotherhood for an assembly on Martin Luther King, Jr Day. O'Dea was honored to have Dr. Elizabeth Wako, M.D., CEO of Swedish Health Services, speak at our MLK assembly.

As a student at O'Dea, her words inspired me and made me feel very grateful for what I have. Our whole school was very intrigued by her inspirational words and her story of her family and what led her to choose her profession. She also talked about what Dr. King really did in our society and even shared quotes from him that impacted the world.

Not only did she talk about MLK Day, but she shared experiences in her life and talked about how to be successful in what you do in life. Elizabeth Wako made a significant impact on our school by emphasizing character, faith, and service, the three words we look up to every day at O'Dea High School.

After she was finished, our whole school went back up to our mentor group classes and we reflected on what Dr. Wako had said. The students in my class took it very seriously and had a lot to reflect on. In conclusion, Elizabeth Wako inspired our whole school to be God's children and care for the world we live in, as well as make it a better place.
