After a day of school as the buses roared off to football practice to go prepare for the upcoming game against Ballard, I got the opportunity to sit down with Jackson Childs. Jackson is a member of the class of 2025 hailing from the Portage Bay neighborhood of Seattle.

Jackson joined the O’Dea community freshman year with the intent of pursuing football.  He has been a member of the football team playing offensive line for four years and participated in DECA for one year. In his free time, he enjoys learning, watching, and playing different sports.  He is an avid football watcher and always has a hot take about what’s going on in college football or the NFL. If you need any advice about your fantasy football team he is the guy to see.

Riley Dack: What drew you to the O’Dea, specifically the football program?

Jackson Childs: “The football program here is second to none, having the opportunity to play football under Coach Kohler is special, there’s nothing like it. Also, the team itself is awesome. I get to be surrounded by guys with a passion and interest the same as mine.”

Riley Dack: What has been your favorite part of O’Dea so far?

Jackson Childs: “My favorite part of O’Dea would have to be the events at the school. From the house games to actual football games there’s just a special energy that we bring to them. You just can’t go to another school and find that.”

Riley Dack: Who is your favorite coach at O’Dea?

Jackson Childs: “Coach Mays, he brings so much energy to practice every day. It makes practice not only easier after a long day but a lot of fun.”

Riley Dack: How do you contribute to the O’Dea community?

Jackson Childs: I try to do as many service activities as I can.  There’s a calming aspect to it.
