High expectations collide in this matchup, which should be one for the ages. O’Dea is the #1 ranked team in 3A and will host the #8 ranked Sedro Woolley. Don’t be discouraged by their rankings as both teams are very strong and capable of going far in the playoffs.

Sedro Woolley comes into Renton memorial after extending their unbeaten run to 11 games last week with a 28-7 win over white river high school. The cubs are led by Junior running back Kolyn Rochester who is averaging 74 rush yards and 39 receiving yards per game along with Senior quarterback cliff Tadema who has 13 passing touchdowns on the year.

O’Dea is led by their star sophomore running back J’Shaun Wilson, who is averaging around 130 yards per game. Other notable names include Ray Clark III with a fumble recovery and a 50-yard touchdown reception against Ferndale. Notably on defense, Keelan Thomas has recorded 6 sacks on the season.

It is not just the offense that will be a factor as both defenses have been a major part of the team’s season. They have allowed an average of only 11 points per game this season. O’Dea’s defensive line was a talking point at the start of the season, and it continues to be as they forced a shutout in their last game vs Ferndale. Along with the defensive front being good, the secondary showed up last week with a pick 6 in the first quarter.

When asked about the upcoming game, defensive lineman Fa Siale said he feels “confident in the team”. Sedro Woolley being undefeated does not phase Siale or the O’Dea football team at all as they look forward to the clash this Saturday at Renton Memorial Stadium.

Earlier this season, both teams faced Ferndale, and those games showed how strong they were. O’Dea defeated Ferndale 49-0, getting a shutout, proving how dominant their defense can be. Sedro Woolley also played well against Ferndale, defeating them 33-7 with a balanced performance on offense and defense. While O'Dea's shutout was more dominant, Sedro Woolley's win shows they can handle these teams, Aswell. These results make this Saturdays game more interesting, because both teams have shown they take control against the same opponent. Only one team will move on, and both are ready to leave everything on the field. Fans at Renton Memorial Stadium should expect a hard-fought battle from start to finish.
