In a thrilling matchup, the Fighting Irish came out the winner over the number one ranked West Seattle High School football team. The game began with challenges for O'Dea, as West Seattle’s fast-paced passing attack proved difficult to contain. However, the Irish defense, led by a focused defensive line and secondary, quickly adapted and began to shut down their opponent’s offensive momentum.
Offensively, the Irish faced early setbacks. Running back Uriah Stringfield fumbled twice in the first half, creating a rocky start. Yet, after halftime, the team regrouped and found its rhythm. Lio Banchero electrified the crowd with a remarkable 95-yard touchdown run, shifting the momentum in favor of the Irish. Peyton Egan and Stringfield bounced back with impressive touchdown drives, while Max Speller contributed significantly with key blocks and consistent gains of 5 to 10 yards, helping sustain offensive drives.
The defense was relentless throughout the game. Timo Sousou recorded multiple tackles for loss, while Keelan Thomas and Fa Siale consistently pressured the quarterback, disrupting West Seattle’s backfield and limiting their offensive options.
This victory was a true team effort. Despite early mistakes, the Fighting Irish demonstrated resilience and determination, ultimately securing a hard-fought win. The team’s unity and perseverance were on full display, showcasing the heart and grit that define Irish football.
