SPANAWAY, Wash.- On September 5th at Art Crate Field, Graham-Kapowsin upset reigning 3A state champions O’Dea in a 40- 38 thriller after losing to the Fighting Irish last year in a nail-biter.
The boys from the hill came into this matchup hot; it was a shootout and highlighted stars such as Lio Banchero who scored a 75 yard touchdown, as well as sophomore quarterback from Graham-Kapowsin, Aj Tuivaiave, who scored five total touchdowns in his rematch with the Irish.

In this star-studded matchup, both coaches were seeking a statement win. However, for Coach Monte Kohler it was different. A win would solidify him in the record books as the winningest coach in all of Washington state high school football history. However after a devastating loss, he was still grateful for his players outstanding performances.
Next on Kohler's radar is Rainier Beach on September 11th at 7pm at SWAC field.
