No.5 O'Dea Fighting Irish Defeats The Roosevelt Rough 56-28

SEATTLE-
Last Friday, the run game from the Irish simply outmatched the Roughriders. The most notable stats came from junior running back J'Shaun Wilson (9 Attempts/264 Yards/3 touchdowns) while also having 3 more score on the ground due to valiant efforts from senior running back, Max Speller (2) and junior running back, Jaxon Turner (1). This game had been a highly anticipated matchup going into week one in sold out fashion at Northwest Athletic Complex (NWAC).
Both teams were hungry for an early season victory and both made great efforts on the field in front of the sold-out crowd. But as the first whistle blew The Fighting Irish were ready to make an impact, going up 28-14 by the end of the first quarter. O'Dea carried that momentum into the rest of the game and left with a win on the column. But Roosevelt showed a promising offense in putting up 28 points on the highly ranked O'Dea defense.
After the game we asked a coupe player for some insight/ thoughts about the team and game, "You can't do anything without your O-line" Jaxon Foy stated as the offensive line made the run game look easy in this contest. The O'Dea secondary however, looked troubled against one-on-one matchups as stated by Wilson West, "Corners need more live reps against receivers."
In the end, both teams have parts of the game to work on and grow for the week ahead but should also keep their heads up for the positives that came from week 1.
