More Than a Game with Peyton Egan

SEATTLE- For Peyton Egan, lacrosse isn’t just something he plays after school, it’s something that drives him every day. Not just the games, not just the wins, but the work behind it all. For Egan, lacrosse isn’t just a sport.

Egan’s journey started early. “My football coach in 3rd grade told me to play,” he said. From that moment on, the sport quickly became a natural fit.

“Ever since I first started, I have been naturally good at it,” Egan explained. But talent alone doesn’t explain who he is as a player.

Now a varsity player for the past two seasons after swinging between levels his freshman year, he has become one of the team’s most versatile players. Stepping in at both defense as a d-pole and midfield, showing his ability to impact the game on both ends of the field.

But Egan explain to me that it deeper than performance. “Lacrosse is part of my identity,” he said. “It’s my life. I’ve put so many hours into it, and it’s brought me closer to so many people and shaped who I am today.”

Egan’s competitive edge also plays a big role in his motivation. “I want to win, and most of all I don’t like to give up,” he said.

That mindset has helped him step into a bigger leadership role this season, something he says has taught him lessons that go beyond the field.

In conclusion, I asked Egan about why he plays lacrosse and what makes him so passionate to keep playing. Egan explained the support from family throughout his lacrosse years.

He shared that his dad has been there since the beginning. “Ever since I started playing, my dad has always been there, every practice and every game,” he said. “He’s always wanted the best for me.”

From early beginnings to becoming a key varsity player, Egan’s story shows that his motivation comes from more than just the game itself.
