First Mass of the Year

by Henry Rivera

O’Dea started the school year with its first Mass, bringing students, Campus Ministry, and choir together. Before Mass, Campus Ministry and choir met in the courtyard before making their way to the cathedral. The cathedral has a large and beautiful interior, with tall ceilings and beautiful details everywhere you look. This creates a special setting for Mass and makes the service feel important. Students practiced their readings while the choir practiced their songs before the service.

James Vaccari shared what the experience was like for him. “The first mass of the year was fun," he said. "It was the first time I had talked at mass and I was super nervous. I enjoyed being back in choir and singing for mass.” Even though he was nervous about speaking, James enjoyed being back in choir and being part of the Mass. He was happy to be involved and help make the first Mass of the year special.

The Mass went very well, and everyone did a great job being involved. It was a good way to start the school year and bring the O’Dea community together. Students were able to take part in the Mass and enjoy being together. With the first Mass going well, everyone can look forward to the next one.
