Built On the Mound

As the season pushes forward, something has clearly shifted. What once felt like a team still searching for their identity has turned into a group that’s gaining confidence with every game. “This year’s baseball season is progressively getting better as the season goes on,” Trey Rojas explained. And the results back that up the team is hot right now, stacking wins over the past few weeks having a record of 4-2 in the past 6 games and building the momentum they need for the rest of the season.

A big part of this streak comes down to execution in key moments. The team’s hitting with runners in scoring position has been strong, sitting around .300 meaning they’re capitalizing on about 3 out of every 10 chances. That kind of production can change games quickly and shows an ability to stay calm under pressure. But while the offense has stepped up, the real backbone of this recent success has been pitching.

When asked how much of the success comes from pitching versus hitting, Rojas answers were clear. “Pitching because we only gave 4 runs in 4 to 5 games” in a dominant stretch of games, that level of control on the mound doesn’t just stop opponents it builds confidence across the entire team. When pitchers are locked in, the defense plays sharper, and the offense doesn’t feel as much pressure to carry the load.

Still, there’s no sense of stopping. Despite the strong run, the team recognizes there’s more work to do. “I think we’re still climbing” Rojas said, pointing out that everyone understands what needs improvement. That type of success they’re having while staying focused on growth could be what separates them as they head toward the playoffs.
